Chris received both a Chief Scout's Commendation for Meritorious Conduct medal an award for Meritorious Conduct and a Silver Acorn which is one of Scouting’s top awards. He has been and continues to be a major force in Sevenoaks scouting. He has been Riverhead Carnival organiser and continued with his activities despite requiring a kidney transplant.
This is taken from a letter Chris has written for the Sevenoaks Scouting newsletter, Newslink: “I am really proud of my Chief Scout's Commendation for Meritorious Conduct Award and want to dedicate it to a family that do not know me and I have never met. Just over four years ago between Christmas and New Year a disaster hit this family. “A lady, possibly a mother, wife, sister, daughter died in what was very likely unexpected circumstances. “The family would have been approached by the Organ Transplant team and putting their own feelings aside and other people’s needs before their own they agreed to let the organs of their loved one be used in transplants. “Along with at least one other person I was fortunate enough to receive an organ from this lady, go on to live my life to the full and allow me to actually be around to collect this award.
“Although they probably are not members of the Scouting Association in my eyes this family are very much scouts and their conduct very meritorious.
“Help other people and the rest of the Promise surely falls into place.
“A very big thank you to them and everyone that is on the Donor Register.”
