District Cubs Chess Competition

The Sevenoaks District Cubs Chess Tournament took place at Westerham Scout Hut on Saturday 21stNovember. 17 cubs from 5 Packs took part in a keenly fought competition. After a series of 10 minute round robin matches in 4 groups the 8 cubs with the best results competed for one trophy and the other cubs took part in the plate competition. In this knockout stage there were some very close matches before the two finals took place between Simon Ralph and Nick McLean for the overall winner and Mattie Thomson and Benjy Collingwood for the plate trophy. Simon Ralph from 1stSevenoaks (Hicks Own) finally came out on top in the one final and Mattie Thomson also from Hicks Own won the plate trophy.
