Young leaders

The Young Leaders are a part of the Explorer Scout section. It is a seperate unit and young people can be part of the young leaders unit  only or can be part of the young leader unit and another Explorer Scout unit.

Any young person between the age of 14 and 18 years of age helping with any of the other sections must join the Young Leader unit. However anyone working for the service section of the Dof E awards can work with the other sections and not join the Young Leader unit but only for the set time for the service as set by the DofE.

The Young Leader unit meets as and when required and they get together to work towards training to help them with their role as a young leader . The young leader unit leaders are always available to offer help and support to the young leaders if they require this.

The first modual of the training should be unertaken within the first three months of joining the unit.

Training sessions are held on the second Tuesday of the odd months ( Jan., Mar., etc.) and usually held at Riverhead HQ.

Anyone working for the Dof E awards needs to attend training courses as well as the practical for the service.
